This page explains, in plain terms, how that score is built, why we weight the signals the way we do, and where the score's limits are. The five signals behind the score

Every listing gets a composite score out of 100, built from five measured signals. We list them here from heaviest to lightest weight.

• Sentiment, 28%. A synthesis of what recent reviews actually describe: recurring praise, recurring complaints, and how surgeons or clinics respond to concerns. This is our heaviest-weighted signal.
• Rating, 26%. The Google aggregate star rating, taken as a broad, quick read of overall satisfaction.
• Volume, 20%. How many reviews a business has, log-scaled so that ten reviews and four hundred reviews don't get treated as equally reliable. A single glowing handful of reviews carries less weight than a large, sustained pattern.
• Recency, 12%. How recently patients have left reviews. A clinic that was excellent five years ago but has gone quiet, or changed hands, needs current evidence, not old praise.
• Completeness, 14%. Whether basic contact information is actually listed and correct: phone number, website, hours, and address. A clinic that is easy to reach and verify is easier to trust before you ever book a consultation.

Why sentiment carries the most weight

A star average on its own hides patterns. Two clinics can sit at the same 4.3 rating while one has scattered, unrelated gripes and the other has a dozen recent reviews all describing the same problem, whether that's rushed consultations, unclear pricing, or follow-up care that fell through. Averages flatten that difference. Reading what recent reviews actually say is the only way to catch it, which is why sentiment is weighted above the star rating itself in our system. For a decision as personal as choosing a plastic surgeon, that distinction matters more than a single number.

Why the other signals matter for this decision

Rating gives a fast, broad signal that's worth including precisely because it's the number most patients already look at first. Volume matters because reliability builds with sample size: we log-scale it so a clinic with hundreds of reviews isn't automatically outranked by one with a handful of perfect ones. Recency matters because surgical teams change, ownership changes, and quality can shift in either direction. Completeness matters because a listing with a working phone number, current hours, and a real address is one you can actually verify and contact, which counts for something before any procedure is booked.

Confidence and honesty about limits

Businesses with few recent reviews simply cannot support a fully confident score, and we say so directly: these listings are labelled low-confidence rather than presented as equivalent to well-reviewed, high-volume clinics. We synthesize review themes into plain-language summaries rather than republishing review text, and every listing links back to the source on Google so you can read the original reviews yourself and form your own view.

Scores are earned, not edited

Every score on this site comes from the rubric above and the underlying data alone. Scores are never adjusted by hand. Where paid placement exists on this site, it is always labelled clearly and it never changes a business's score. Any list where picks or ordering involved editorial judgment discloses that plainly on the page itself, so you always know whether you're looking at a pure data ranking or an edited selection.
